Engine control

A good day on Rhyddid on Saturday. I bought a new Morse controller last week as the original one I got from Tooleys boatyard has turned out to be completely the wrong thing despite me telling them what was needed. Anyway I bought a Vetus Sisco form Kingslock, what I should have done in the first place. There are closures on the southern Oxford so it was a very quite day, a bit odd with no boats passing and the water just sitting there not moving, nice and peaceful. So now I just need the tiller arm welded on and then the canal to open again and I can get Rhyddid to Reading!!

Fantastic evening at the Royal Albert Hall

Well I am sitting in the Fullers pub at Paddington station after the most fantastic evening of music. I went to John Foulds's A World Requiem which was being performed for the first time in 81 years!
This hugh production included the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the BBC Symphony Chorus, Crouch End Festival Chorus, the Philharmonia Chorus and Trinity Boys Choir.
I was not quite sure what to expect from tonights performance, I have to say it was an amazing evening. With performers off stage as well as over four hundred people on stage it was an quite an evening.

Boat life

Boat life is certainly agreeing with me at the moment! This morning I left An-me at 7.30 with the fog sitting on the Thames. Very eerie, but just so still. When I returned to An-me about an hour later the sun was trying hard to burn through the mist. I did the boat living jobs, watering up, stacking the wood, and clearing the ash from the stove, taking regular breaks for tea and to sit on the deal and admire the view.
I did take the opportunity this afternoon to walk along the Thames path and then back into Reading along the Kennet and Avon. Not always the most inspiring of views, but that can be canal walls for you. Now the fire is light and the tea is made, boat life, yes it is agreeing with me.
