Well it has been a good while since I have posted about Rhyddid, but finally Sunday was the Maiden voyage. My sister Susan joined me and we went from Kings Bridge on the South Oxford down to Dukes Lock and then along Dukes Cut to the Thames. Turn round at Kings Lock and back we came. All went very well, she turns nicely even though there needs some adjustment on the trim. We got back to the mooring just as Dusty the mobile fuel barge came down, so I was able to add 100 litres of fuel ready for next Saturday when we go up to Thrupp to turn round prior to the move to Reading. The fuel tanks are huge and even with about 130 litres of fuel in are only just half full!
It is a great feeling that first trip and really good to share it with my sister as the family have lived with what has at times been slightly stressful time!
